Waist-up seated portrait of Samuel C. Johnson, a corporal in C Company, 15th Wisconsin Infantry, in uniform with corporal chevrons on the sleeves. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in Norway, Wisconsin. On October 16, 1861, he enlisted at Waterford, Wisconsin and was mustered into service at Madison, Wisconsin on December 02, 1861, at the age of 30. He was appointed corporal on February 07, 1862, and was wounded on December 30, 1862, during the battle at Stone River, Tennessee. He was sent to hospitals in Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Chicago, Illinois and Nashville, Tennessee until he was discharged on April 15, 1864, at Louisville, Kentucky for disability. |
