Laird, Obey, and Nelson
Candid portrait of three Wisconsin legislators sharing a light moment. Left to right, they are: Melvin Laird, who resigned from his congressional seat in January, 1969 to become secretary of defense; David Obey, who succeeded to Laird's seat; and Senator Gaylord Nelson, who served from 1963 to 1981. The three men were in Marshfield to speak to a meeting of Wisconsin surgeons on the future of government's role in health care. |
