Lowry Residence
Several individuals pose in front of the residence of C.A. Lowry. The original caption reads: "Mr. Lowry bought 9,000 acres fronting on the Mermentau River and Lake Arthur in 1891. Before coming to Louisiana, he was in the wholesale drug business at Terre Haute, Indiana. His plantation has two large irrigating canals upon it which reach out several miles and supply water for adjoining planters. The house here shown was built a century ago by French settlers." |
