Hallelujah Campgrounds
A view of the 7-acre Hallelujah Campground which was located at the corner of Janesville Street and South Perry Parkway in the Village of Oregon. According to "Wisconsin, A Guide to the Badger State" (1941, p.507), this interdenominational, evangelistic institution was founded in 1923 by a former Congregational minister, the Rev. Clement H. "Jack" Linn. By 1941 its facilities included a central building, tabernacle, refectory, small hotel, and several identical cottages (bearing such names as Beulah, Rock of Ages, and Genesis). Revival services were held in the month of August and during the rest of the tourist season the cabins were rented. On Sept 1, 1940 Linn sold 5 acres and most of the buildings to the state organization of the Free Methodist Church. |
