B938 From Jeff Janvrin, WI Dept of Natural Resources, in an email on 10/26/07: [This image was originally dated "ca. 1950," but it] "clearly shows bottom land forests, wing dams, and closing dams above water. This portion of the Mississippi River was inundated in the late 1930's by Lock and Dam 6. Therefore, for the features in the image to be visible the photo would have been taken prior to the Lock and Dam being put into operation." |
