Soldiers at Camp Randall
Soldiers in formation at Camp Randall during winter. The season [there appears to be snow on the ground] and the tents indicate that this image was made in 1861 or 1862. Improved quarters for the soldiers were erected in 1862. The camp was used as a training ground for most of Wisconsin's Civil War soldiers. This image was probably taken near the corner of University Avenue and Randall Street. |
