John Johnson (Thoe)
Waist-up oval studio portrait of John Johnson, a private in Company K, 15th Wisconsin Infantry, in uniform holding his musket across his chest. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in Worth, Iowa. On December 23, 1861, he enlisted in Worth, Iowa and on February 11, 1862, he was mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin at the age of 25. He was killed in action at Altoona Mountain near New Hope Church, Georgia on May 27, 1864. |
