Today the window has been recessed from its former position and the cornice has been removed, but the building is still similar to its original appearance when constructed about 1880. Like many Rennebohm stores, pharmacy operations had been in operation at that location long before Rennebohm acquired the property in 1928. This store, for example, had operated as James Keefer's drug store for several years. In a second link to pharmacy history in Madison Rennebohm purchased the merchandise and prescription records of the Sumner and Son pharmacy, an operation that extended to Madison's early days. |
