Schulz's Farm near Stevens Point in Wisconsin

Hölzlhuber located this farm at about three German miles from Stevens Point. The region's soil was quite fertile. A wooden dwelling house stood in the midst of primitive outbuildings with minimal board roofs easily exposed to the weather. The small stables were situated further away, to prevent their burning if other buildings caught fire. Not far from the farm was a quite profitable whiskey still. Several wagons sit in front of the buildings, and a stream with a bridge is featured in the foreground. Taken from Hölzlhuber's description of the scene, translated by Vera Kroner. |
