Small group in front of the Wisconsin State Capitol viewed from East Washington Avenue. Some telegraph wires are strung across foreground. The card is from the series "The Beauties of the City of Madison and Vicinity." The iron and stone fence around the perimeter of the Capitol Park was designed by Stephen V. Shipman, who also designed the Capitol dome, and it was completed in 1873. |
