Skavlem Family

Skavlem Family | Photograph | Wisconsin Historical Society
The Skavlem family is around the table at the home of Lars H. Skavlem. A cloth, books, a vase of flowers and fruit are on the table. The two men on the right have pipes. One has the "Combination Atlas Map of Rock County" (1873); the other has the May 18, 1875 edition of "Skandinaven," a newspaper published in Chicago. The man in the right rear is probably Halvor L. Skavlem. Two women in the front have watermelons. The woman on the front left is probably Halvor's wife, Gunil Olmstad Skavlem. The man and woman on the left are Lars H. Skavlem and Groe Halvorsdatter Aae. Two chairs at the table are empty. A girl is sitting at an organ on the porch, which has many plants on it. A lightning rod is on the roof.
