Reverend Erik Jensen and Wife with Children

Twenty-one children are seated on wooden benches and the ground in front of a square frame house with a hip roof and cupola. The Reverend Erik Jensen (1841-1927) and his wife Petronelle Brevig Jensen sit among the children. In front is a small toy wheelbarrow. Behind them is a carriage, a well, a barrel and on the right a small stone outbuilding. Jensen wrote song books and was the pastor at Mound Springs from 1870-73, at Jefferson Prairie in Rock County from 1874-82 and at Coon Valley from 1882-93. He made a trip back to Norway in 1873-74, having immigrated in 1867. |
