"As an excursion point, the Dells has no rival," the brochure stated. "From the moment the visitor leaves the station at Kilbourn [now Wisconsin Dells], he is lifted out of the commonplace and uneventful by the barbaric splendor of the place and it is in a state of exaltation that he boards the launch or steamer, and explores the winding narrows and grim corridors to the remotest limit of the Dells - a jaunt that never fails to communicate a thrill to the most seasoned tourist." |
