Pinckney Street
View of Pinckney Street, about 1860, from the roof of the Fairchild Block at the corner of East Main and South Pinckney looking northwest toward Lake Mendota. Bruen's Block is the large commercial building on the right. Next to it, across the East Washington intersection, is the historic American House hotel where the Legislature first met. On the left numerous horse-drawn buggies and wagons are hitched along Capitol Park fence. Bacon's Block is the building with the turret on its roof at the corner of Pinckney and Mifflin streets. |
