Wisconsin State Capitol Interior - Museum of the Historical Society

The Daniel Webster carriage on display in the Historical Society's museum in the third Wisconsin State Capitol. At that time the Historical Society's quarters were located in the addition constructed in 1883. Architectural details of the addition that can be gleaned here include the archway to the right and the crown molding from which the Society's painting collection is suspended. The Webster carriage continued to be a favorite exhibit with visitors after the Society moved to its new building on State Street in 1900. Currently, the carriage Webster purchased in 1810 is housed at the Stonefield Village Historic Site in Cassville. The museum visitors are unidentified. |
