Postcard
Wisconsin State Capitol (Third)
Embossed souvenir postcard decorated with gold that depicts the third Wisconsin State Capitol as it appeared, 1883-1904. The gold dome was an entirely artistic idea; the metal dome was painted white, although between paintings, it was sometimes rusty in appearance. At top left is the seal of Wisconsin. (In the embossed title across the bottom of the card Wisconsin is spelled "Wisconson.") |
