The factory had been filled with tear gas and shouting strikers in January 1941, when workers, disobeying federal anti-strike legislation, shut down the plant and held up production of $45,000,000 worth of defense orders, for four months. This image is one of several showing the activities of Gov. Julius P. Heil. Activities include a visit to Allis-Chalmers with Pres. Franklin D. Roosevelt, war bond promotions, signing bills, and many others. |
