Raiffeisen House
Raiffeisen House and CUNA (Credit Union National Association) Mutual Society office, 142 E. Gilman Street, taken for the cover of "Bridge" magazine. The building is named for Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen, a founder of an international credit union movement. It was built by State Senator Benjamin Franklin Hopkins in 1863. It was occupied by Carl A. Johnson (1900-1928) and Delta Chi (1928-1934) before it became the Raiffeisen House in 1935. It was torn down ca. 1940 for National Guardian Life Insurance building. |
