George Brumder
A seated, three-quarter length portrait of George Brumder (1839-1910). He is wearing a three-piece suit and bow tie, watch fob, and wedding ring. He has a well trimmed beard but no mustache. Born in Breuschwickersheim, Alsace (now France), Brumder settled in Milwaukee in 1857 and established a successful German language publishing company. He also had business interests in banking and insurance; his descendants include many prominent citizens of Milwaukee. |
