Wright Brothers Memorial
Aerial view of a B-15 flying over the granite memorial to the Wright Brothers' first flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. The 60-foot memorial was dedicated in 1932. This photograph is inscribed to aviation publicist Harry Bruno from the pilot, Major General Caleb V. Haynes, the winner of the 1939 Mackey Trophy for achievement in aviation. At its introduction in 1937 the B-15 was the largest U.S. Army bomber, but because it was underpowered, only one B-15 was ever built. |
