Tractor with Hay Baler Attached in Hay Field

Tractor with Hay Baler Attached in Hay Field | Magazine or Periodical | Wisconsin Historical Society
A man is driving a tractor with a hay baler attached in a hay field in Australia. The hay baler is producing hay bales. Original caption reads: ". . . for the preservation of livestock. Millions of sheep, and beef and airy cattle have died in past years of drought due to lack of sufficient fodder reserves. Such disastrous losses can be avoided in the future, by the conservation of feed reserves. Most farmers, with appropriate equipment, could conserve sufficient fodder reserves on their own land to meet their emergency requirements. Conservation of fodder is not merely the baling of grass, legume and cereal hays. it also includes the preservation of grains, chopped hays and silage. A most important consideration in conservation of fodders is the retention of maximum nutrient value or quality in feeds, by harvesting at the right stage of maturity. International harvester, keenly aware of the importance of these activities, provides a full line of equipment for the conservation of fodders on farms, both large and small, and in actively engaged in the promotion of conversation practices."
