The Kohler Aviation Company, no relation to the Wisconsin manufacturers of plumbing fixtures, was based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It provided passenger service from Maitland Field in downtown Milwaukee to Grand Rapids and Detroit. Because the public viewed flying over water as particularly dangerous, Kohler Airlines flew Loening amphibians which were thought to be safer and more reliable. The Kohler Aviation Company went out of business during the Great Depression. |
