Sixth plate daguerreotype of a portrait of George Henry Williams (deceased child at 18 months), son of Henry C. and Diana T. Williams, and may be the cousin of N.M. Brown. The portrait shows the child laying in a cradle with a blanket and a small hat in the corner. Portions of the portrait have been tinted blue. The photograph was donated by Irving Brown in 1956. |

There is an unattributed quotation with our notes on the photograph: "I remember the cradle, 6 ft or more long. Mother could sit at the other end and rock both herself and the baby at the same time. It was considered the proper thing to do." Double elliptical mat. Burnt red velvet decoration inside cover. Stamped leather case. Tarnish over highlights of the blanket and child's clothing. |
