Position of H.M.S. <i>Terror</i> on the 22nd of February, 1837. The sailing ship was immobilized in the sea ice near Southampton Island, at the entrance to Hudson Bay, with her sails furled. The crew was occupied with various tasks. Two men in the foreground take readings with a sextant. A man on the left carries something on his back, and another can be seen on the far left. A man holds a pole under the bow, beyond him are two more men. One man stands on deck towards the bow and another man is climbing on or off, over the side.
DESCRIPTION
Position of H.M.S. Terror on the 22nd of February, 1837. The sailing ship was immobilized in the sea ice near Southampton Island, at the entrance to Hudson Bay, with her sails furled. The crew was occupied with various tasks. Two men in the foreground take readings with a sextant. A man on the left carries something on his back, and another can be seen on the far left.
