Travel Through Time

Wisconsin’s largest collection of historic carriages and wagons is yours to explore year ‘round at the Wesley W. Jung Carriage Museum. Weather permitting, check out snowshoes at our visitor center and experience the natural beauty of our grounds via a different form of historic transportation!

Programs are designed for students in grades K-12. All programs must include a 1:10 adult to student ratio.

Know before you go! 
Wade House field trips can take place in indoor and outdoor locations. Please dress for the weather and bring a reusable water bottle.  Wade House Field Trip

Explore the horse-powered world that existed before planes, cars, and railroads. Your guide will show you the 27-room Stage Coach Hotel. Then you’ll head to the historic sawmill and blacksmith shop to see firsthand how tools are made and used. Finally, put your knowledge to the test as you build a model in the Carriage Museum.

Programs last 3-4-hours and include time for a lunch break. Students should bring lunch if they plan to eat on-site. 200 students max per program.

Registration fees:

  • $5 per student
  • $4 per students at economically disadvantaged schools
  • $0 for teachers and school staff
  • $11 per chaperone

A Wade House Christmas Field Trip

Experience the wonder of a 19th-century Christmas at Wade House. The historic Wade House Stagecoach Inn halls will be decked out for the holiday season, showcasing how the Wade family and their many visitors would have celebrated the festive season. 60 students max per program.

Programs last 90 minutes and are available from 9:30-11:00 am and from 12:00-1:30 pm.

Homeschool Days at Wade House

Calling all homeschool learners and non-traditional students! Learners of all ages will be invited to explore the horse-powered world of Wade House and Wisconsin in the mid-1800s. Upon arrival, visitors can step inside a reproduction stagecoach and learn about plank road travel. The horse-drawn world of the 19th century is on display in the Wesley W. Jung Carriage Museum - where learners will test their skills by building their very own model carriage. A horse-drawn wagon transports visitors across the Mullet River to the historic core of the site where authentically costumed interpreters, muscle power and waterpower bring to life the work of the blacksmith and sawyer. Guests tour the 27-room Stagecoach Hotel, which once served weary travelers along the Plank Road.

Programs take place on the following dates, from 9am to 4pm. Advanced registration is required.
