Meet the Man Who Made the Dells Famous

H.H. Bennett Studio & Museum explores Wisconsin Dells history and the life of one man who helped transform the city from a small lumber town into a nationally known tourist destination. Step into the 1875 photo studio of Henry Hamilton Bennett and dive into the story behind the Dells. 

Programs are designed for students in grades K-12. All programs must include a 1:10 adult to student ratio.

  • Field trips available in May, June, September and October by reservation only, and last for 2 to 3 hours
  • 60 people max per program

Know before you go!
H.H. Bennett field trips can take place in indoor and outdoor locations. Please dress for the weather and bring a reusable water bottle. Please let H.H. Documenting the Dells Field Trip

How do you tell the story of a place?  Learners will explore state and regional history through HH Bennett’s photography and studio – a place that indelibly changed the Wisconsin Dells.  Students will investigate concepts of storytelling and science and how they are part of the ongoing and dynamic history of the Dells. Ask about sitting for a class portrait during your field trip!  Program for students in 3rd – 12th grade.

Registration fees:  

  • $5 per student 
  • $0 per teacher and school staff 
  • $5 per chaperone
