WHS Press partners with the Chicago Distribution Center to ensure our books are easy to access, purchase, and distribute. INDIVIDUALS
Individual consumers and readers can purchase Wisconsin Historical Society Press books through several convenient options.
The most direct method is to shop our online store and purchase through our online shopping cart.
Individual customers can also place an order by phone with the Chicago Distribution Center’s customer service line.
WHS Press books are also carried at most independent bookstores, national chains, or online retailers. These options make it simple for readers to access and enjoy WHS Press's publications.
Retail, Wholesale, and Library
Wisconsin Historical Society Press books are distributed to the trade, wholesale, and library markets by the Chicago Distribution Center.

For tax-free purchases, authorized tax-exempt organizations must provide a tax-exempt certificate when setting up an account with the Chicago Distribution Center.

To receive a quote or to order any WHS Press books for school use, contact the Chicago Distribution Center.
Examination copies are available for instructors considering a book for classroom adoption. A 10% faculty discount invoice will accompany the book. If ten or more copies are ordered within 60 days, the invoice will be canceled, and the book may be kept as a desk copy. If the book is not adopted, it may be purchased at the invoiced price or returned within 60 days.
To request an examination copy, please provide the following:
- Book title
- Course name
- Projected enrollment
The request should be faxed on institutional letterhead to (800) 621-8476.
