Wisconsin Historical Society Placed the Carl and Clara Bucholtz Farmstead on the State Register of Historic Places

East Troy Township, Wis. - The Wisconsin Historical Society placed the Carl and Clara Bucholtz Farmstead (East Troy Township, Walworth County) on the State Register of Historic Places on August 17, 2018.

The Carl and Clara Bucholtz Farmstead is a very good example of an early-twentieth-century farm also featuring a high style Queen Anne house. The intact collection of buildings that make up the farmstead represent the growth and development of the farm as it transitioned from wheat farming to dairying.  These farmsteads help tell the story of Wisconsin’s agricultural history, and dairying in particular – an iconic industry in the state. The Bucholtz Farmstead contributes to that story as one of Walworth County’s most architecturally intact historic farmsteads.

The State Register is Wisconsin's official list of state properties determined to be significant to Wisconsin's heritage. The State Historic Preservation Office at the Wisconsin Historical Society administers both the State Register and National Register in Wisconsin.
