Mrs. Meta Berger, widow of Socialist leader in state, dies
Wife, mother, teacher, and politician, Meta Schlichting Berger became an activist in the peace and woman suffrage movements as well as a leader among Socialist women. As the wife of prominent Milwaukee Socialist Victor Berger, Meta Berger contributed articles to his newspaper and embarked on her own political campaigns, serving on the Milwaukee School Board and the University of Wisconsin Board of Regents. This obituary followed her death in June of 1944.
