Volunteer Opportunities
The Wisconsin Historical Museum offers a variety of opportunities for individuals interested in volunteering. Museum volunteers receive many benefits in appreciation of the services they provide, including a quarterly volunteer newsletter. Read the current volunteer newsletter (PDF, 386 KB, 4 pages).
Volunteer placement is made based on an individual's interests, experience, abilities, availability, and on current volunteer openings. Volunteers assist the Museum staff in the following capacities:
On the Capitol Square
Docents engage students and adults in hands-on programs in the Museum's exhibit galleries, making history come to life. Docents receive extensive training in specific content areas, which include Native American lifeways, frontier life in Wisconsin, and immigration to our state. For more information…
Information Desk volunteers greet visitors in the Museum's lobby and orient visitors to the three floors of exhibits.
