State Fair Centennial Mural Study Sketch
Prior to the 1948 State Fair, artist Robert Hodgell traveled Wisconsin to study its many landscapes. He then produced a series of study sketches outlining the mural compositions. This is one of his original study sketches. The final mural canvas has not been found. The final canvas did not include any significant agricultural elements but merely provided a visual bookend to the first mural and neatly closed the 1848 scene. |
