Full-length studio graduation portrait of Genevieve Milward (later McVicar), (1902-1987) of Madison, Wisconsin, standing in front of a painted backdrop. She is holding her diploma and has a bouquet of flowers tucked into the waistband of her light-colored graduation dress. Her shoes are light-colored with bows and low heels. She is wearing a string of pearls around her neck. She graduated from Madison High School in June 1921. The dress was made by Benevieve's aunt Elizabeth (Meibohn) Milward (1879-1966). The dress is in the collections of the Wisconsin Historical Museum (2012.139.1a-b). |
