T.B. McCafferty was the daughter of some of the earliest settlers in Columbus. Her father, H.W. McCafferty, owned the Exchange Hotel, which burned down in 1857 (see the Appleton Post-Crescent, October 17, 1857.) After her marriage she became T.B. French. She moved to Stevens Point, where she was a prominent businesswoman, and one of the organizers of the French & Campbell Co. She moved back to Columbus later to care for her parents and died March 17, 1919. (See Stevens Point Gazette, March 19, 1919.) |
